Bessie cares for her father Marvin and her Aunt Ruth in her home in Florida. Unable to speak, and confined to his bed for years, Marvin's only entertainment comes from someone bouncing beams of sunlight, reflected from a small mirror, around his room. Bessie learns that she has leukemia and that her only hope is to contact her long-estranged sister Lee to see if her bone marrow is compatible for a transplant. This warm heart comedy tackles issues familiar to us all about who we care about and what it means to be family.   Marvin's Room won the Drama Desk award in 1992 for Best Play.  It's author, Scott McPherson, died that same year of AIDS.
