Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award - NOMINATION FORM
11:00 PM - 11:30 PM

The Trustees of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation have approved Troy University to grant the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award annually to one man and one woman of the graduating class and to one non-student.  The criteria suggest that the award be given “only in recognition of fine spiritual qualities, practically applied to daily living, as distinct from high scholarship, athletic achievement, and success in business, professional ability, political leadership, or more worldly prominence in any calling.  On the other hand, it is realized that the highest spiritual and humanitarian qualities may well be found in intimate and inseparable association with a successful pursuit of such followings.”

Members of the University faculty, staff and student body are requested to make recommendations for this award by completing a nomination form on each nominee they recommend.  Nomination forms are attached to this email message and are also available in the Student Government Association Office (215 Trojan Center) on the Troy campus and Trojan Today.  Student nominees must be seniors who have graduated or will graduate during the current academic year or no later than August 2012.

Recipients of this award will be honored April 16th, 2012 at the Honors Convocation.  They will receive a trophy and a certificate.

Please note the deadline for receiving nomination forms is Friday, February 24th, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Student Involvement and Leadership office 215 Trojan Center

In 1987 Congress declared the month of March as Women’s History Month in order to recognize, remember and celebrate outstanding women of the past. In honor of Women’s History Month each year, Troy University honors women who best exemplify not only being a true TROY Trojan, but also an outstanding member of society. The Student Government Association is currently accepting nominations for Troy University’s Most Outstanding Women 2012. If you know of a young woman on campus who has inspired you and serves as an exceptional role model to those around her, we encourage you to submit a nomination. Nominees should be actively involved in serving her community and her school. Any student, faculty member or employer may nominate a student for this honor. In order to do so, a one page letter of recommendation, along with the student survey, must be submitted to the SGA Office Trojan Center Room 215 by Friday February 24, 2012 no later than 4 p.m. Guidelines for the letter of recommendation and a student survey are located online via the Student Government Association webpage at troy.troy.edu/sga, located under the “Most Outstanding Women” link.
