| Theater Performance: "Sweet Charity" |
|
Event Description Temple Theaters is pleased to announce the first production of its 2009-2010 Season: the jazzy musical comedy Sweet Charity, directed by Peter Reynolds, artistic director of Philadelphia’s Center City theater company Mauckingbird Theatre Co. (The Misanthrope, Shakespeare’s R&J). Sweet Charity, featuring a book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, took Broadway by storm in 1966 with nine Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, with a win for Bob Fosse’s choreography. Philadelphia native and Broadway actor Tim Craskey (Sweet Charity; Aida), who starred alongside Christina Applegate in the 2005 Tony-nominated revival of the show, steps in as choreographer for Temple Theaters’ production. Featuring lighting design by Barrymore Award winner John Hoey (Arden’s Sweeney Todd), Sweet Charity officially opens at Temple’s Tomlinson Theater on Sept. 25 and runs through Oct. 11. |
