Event Description Did you get a new computer for school or your office, the latest smart phone or perhaps a new flat screen TV? New technology is great, but how can you dispose of your old stuff? On Saturday, Sept 25 the Pennypack Farm & Education Center will host an “e-waste” recycling event at Temple University Ambler. Put that old electronic junk back to work: Reclaim wasted space in your house or office; redirect the plastics, metals and toxic compounds contained in electronic junk from landfills into useful products through hand-dismantlement and reclamation; provide needed employment in a Work Empowerment Zone in the Philadelphia area; and boost the Pennypack Farm Growing Fund, which will be used to buy capital equipment to help feed more people in the region. Electronic items accepted include: computers, monitors, copiers, printers, laptops, fax machines, keyboards, computer accessories and cables, DVD and video players, electronic games, personal planners, cell phones, TVs, video cameras, server components, routers, modems, telephones, radios, amplifiers, record players, etc. |

Ticket/registration details and deadline: Volunteers will meet you at your car and help unload your items onto carts. It will be weighed and you will be charged a nominal fee of 40 cents per pound. Air conditioners and microwaves will also be accepted ($15.00 each). |
