Event Description The Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Association begins its “brownbag lunch” guest lecture series for Fall 2011 on September 21 with a visit from Mark Focht, Executive Director of the Fairmount Park Commission. Mark Focht is responsible for the day-to-day management of the 9,200 acre, 63 park Fairmount Park system. He has also served as director of the Park Commission’s Environment, Stewardship and Education Division. He additionally serves as the Vice President of Communications for the American Society of Landscape Architects and has been an adjunct professor for Temple’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. During the September 21 lecture, he will discuss Philadelphia’s revolutionary “Green 2015” plan, which aims to add 500 acres of publicly-accessible green space to the city on the next four years. By sharing examples of projects associated with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, he will describe how the city plans to accomplish this ambitious goal. This lecture is open to all students, faculty, and staff. |
