Event Description "Germany-1, England-1" is an exhibition of paintings by artists Elke Zauner, artist in residence at the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo, and John Walter, Sainsbury Scholar at the British School at Rome. The exhibition is the result of the close professional and personal friendship that came about after meeting each other in Rome.
"Germany-1, England-1" juxtaposes works by both artists, but also premieres two new paintings which are the result of their collaboration. Taking its cue from the collaborations done by Warhol, Basquiat and Clemente in the 1980’s, Zauner and Walter are experimenting with what their painting can and could be, testing the boundaries for themselves and for others in the process.
This exhibition runs from June 5 through June 25. |
