Event Description Mike Hammer will present 'The State Department's 2012 Strategic Priorities.' Hammer is the acting assistant secretary for Public Affairs. Prior to this assignment, Hammer served at the White House as special assistant to the President, senior director for Press and Communications and National Security Council spokesman from January 2009-January 2011. He is a career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service and entered the diplomatic corps in 1988. Hammer has served abroad in Bolivia, Norway, Iceland and Denmark and is a recipient of the Department's Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy. He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and master's degrees from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and the National War College at the National Defense University. The program will consist of a short presentation followed by a Q&A session. |
