Event Description
It seems that Marlene gets to celebrate her coveted promotion in the ‘Top Girls’ employment agency at a dreamy London café where a surreal gaggle of notoriously famous female guests miraculously arrive from across time to revel in her success. Then, just as suddenly, it is flash- forward to reality at the agency, as Marlene faces the hard-scrabble rigor of her career. Finally, fatally, her world flashes back in time to unveil the harrowing, heartbreaking price of her present success. English playwright Caryl Churchill’s acknowledged masterpiece is a vivid and visceral exploration of the many faces of feminism framed as a highly theatrical triptych in time. Temple Theaters honors the thirtieth anniversary of this watershed work with the final production of our 2011-2012 season. |
