End Date: 4/3/2014End Time: 11:15 AM

Event Description:
This invited session focuses on practical approaches to cultivating interdisciplinary, inclusive, and institutionally transformative learning environments. Glen Muschio, from Drexel University, will discuss his course that brought students from the hard sciences and humanities together for the purpose of using new media to examine the archaeological record. Carl Moore, from Temple's Teaching and Learning Center, will discuss universal design for learning and his work developing inclusive programs on teaching with technology. Alice Hausman, Allison Hayes-Conroy, and Cheryl Hyde, from Temple University, will take the conversation beyond the classroom to share ways that Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) can be incorporated into class design. The conversation will explore ways that scholars can transform classrooms into spaces that transcend disciplinary and institutional boundaries, enhancing students’ analytic skills, pedagogy, and university-community collaboration.
