Event Description Articular cartilage is damaged from injury or repetitive stresses, and has limited ability to repair itself. Our laboratory is engineering a cartilage replacement using mammalian cells seeded on a scaffold material. One major challenge is to fabricate engineered cartilage with the same properties as native articular cartilage. We will demonstrate how we assess these properties using mechanical testing, as well as molecular imaging of tissue composition. |
