|
Event Description "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street", with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, is a comic, sinister, and deeply profound meditation on revenge, love, and the lengths to which we go in order to survive—morally, economically and spiritually. In it, a barber out for revenge makes a devilish pact with a giddy, gruesome pie shop owner, Mrs. Lovett. "Sweeney Todd" was first presented on Broadway in 1979, winning eight Tony Awards® including Best Musical. |
