“The Art of Monasticism: Aesthetic Manifestations of the Angelic Life" lecture by Elizabeth Bolman

Event Description
This exhibition features two Late Antique churches in Upper Egypt, and the ways in which their creators used them as tools in their pursuit of salvation after death. A major wall painting conservation project that has been taking place there is also documented. Nicholas Kripal has created a sculpture, and Susan Moore a painting that are inspired by the monuments, thus exploring the relevance of the ancient works of art for people today. Lecture by associate professor Elizabeth Bolman, followed by a reception in the atrium.
