Event Description
Creating a home studio for music recording is becoming increasingly accessible. What used to cost thousands of dollars in equipment can now be done on most computers with hardware and software many of us already own. This class will teach the fundamentals of multi-track recording using Audacity (an open source audio editor), a computer, and a dynamic microphone. This is a hands-on, collaborative class in which the students will work with the instructor to create a small piece of music. They will then record the piece on their instruments, one track at a time, each person adding to the finished product. Once all the parts have been recorded, the class will explore some basic mixing and then export the finished song as an mp3. Attendees should bring any instrument they want to play. If that instrument requires cables or amplification, they should bring those as well. |
