Event Description
Join William F. Jordan III, Director of the New Academy for Nature and Culture and Co-Director of the Institute for Nature and Culture at DePaul University, Chicago, as he presents a special lecture entitled “Ecological Restoration and the Art of Saving the Planet.” Jordan III is widely recognized as an intellectual leader in the field of ecological restoration and has been called by Michael Pollan the “leading visionary” of the restoration movement. Jordan was the founding editor of Ecological Restoration, the first journal in the field, and a founding member of the Society for Ecological Restoration. Manager of public outreach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum from 1977 to 2001, he is now co-director of the Institute for Nature and Culture at DePaul University; director of the New Academy for Nature and Culture, a think tank that explores the relationship between humans and their environment and provides a critical perspective on environmental thinking and practice; and editor of Environmental Prospect, an online forum for the exploration of a theory of values and its implications for environmental thinking and practice.
