Event Description Join Bess Wellborn Yates, Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture, as he presents “STREETSCAPES: Planning and Designing with Trees in Mind.” Bess Wellborn Yates, ASLA, joined the Temple University Ambler Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture faculty as a lecturer in 2008. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, including Landscape Traditions, Green vs. Gray: Improving and Sustaining Urban Ecosystems, Design Communications, Trees in the City, and Environment and Society with Temple’s Summer Academy. After receiving her B.A. in Geology from Wellesley College and Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, Bess served as a community planner and designer with E² Inc., an environmental consulting firm based in Charlottesville, VA. There she helped lead community land use planning and design projects related to Superfund Sites located across the east coast. All students, faculty, staff, and the local community are welcome to attend the October 24 lecture where Wellborn Yates will speak about how designers, developers, and municipalities can create streetscapes that provide the space that trees need to grow and thrive. Refreshments will be served. The Sustainability Lecture Series is co-sponsored by the Ambler Campus Student Government Association Sustainability Committee and the Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Association. |
