Ever been fooled by an internet hoax? Ever bought a product from an infomercial that didn't live up to its claim? Ever been tricked by a con artist? Our most valuable survival skill is to be able to think critically about the world around us. Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 31st from 11:45-12:45 in Room 123 on the Anderson Campus as Art Scheck discusses some of the consequences of failed critical thinking with examples ranging from medical quackery to giving up all worldly possessions based on apocalyptic prophecies taught by on the fringe preachers. Mr. Scheck has studied philosophy and logic, was the editor of a sports fishing magazine and has written two books. He has been a faculty member at TCTC since 2002.
