Event Description
Diabetes Education at Stony Brook Medicine is offering a comprehensive, ADA accredited, Diabetes Self Care Management Training and Support Program for all adults with diabetes and their families.  The program provides knowledge, skills and tools people living with diabetes need to know in order to manage their chronic condition successfully and avoid the many associated complications.  Our multidisciplinary professional staff takes a compassionate approach to help you through all the information about the disease and its management.  Topics covered include, but not limited to, types of diabetes, meal planning, blood glucose monitoring, exercise, use of medications, acute and chronic complications, stress, travel, vacationing, and community resources.  Individuals should inquire with their insurance carriers about coverage.  Pre-registration is required.  2014 course dates are listed in the attached flyer.
