Stony Brook Manhattan Writers Speak Series: Daniel Menaker
Start Date: 9/30/2013Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 9/30/2013

Event Description:
Daniel Menaker is a fiction writer and editor working with the MFA program at Stony Brook Southampton. Discussion of The Treatment and interview.

About The Treatment:
"Menaker's clever, very funny and surprisingly tender first novel is a triumphant satire of Freudianism gone amok, a touching love story and a quintessential picture of New York life. In the annals of intellectual urban existence at the end of the 20th century, 32-year-old Jake Singer's lonely, anxiety-filled daily routine qualifies as an existential hell." (Publishers Weekly)

This Fall's Writers Speak Series will be an open classroom format, following the curriculum of the course "Uses of Affliction: Reading and Writing Illness" co-taught by Daniel Menaker and Magdalene Brandeis. All events are free and open to the public.
