Event Description Speaker:
Dr. William Bialek is the John Archibald Wheeler/Battelle Professor in Physics and a member of the multidisciplinary Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics, at Princeton University. In addition, he serves as Visiting Presidential Professor of Physics at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, where he is helping to launch an Initiative for the Theoretical Sciences.
Dr. Bialek will deliver a technical seminar open to faculty, advanced
graduate students, and those with a background in the advanced sciences:

The capstone talk is intended for a general audience and high school students in
particular. Dr. Bialek will discuss whether life is just the meaningless record of
evolutionary history, or whether there is meaning to be found in the mechanisms
of life that we see today:
