Gil Kalish and Randall Scarlata Perform Schubert's Winterreise
Start Date: 4/5/2013Start Time: 8:00 PM
End Date: 4/5/2013

Event Description:
Schubert's song cycle Winterreise (Winter's Journey) will be sung by Randall Scarlata, baritone, accompanied by pianist Gilbert Kalish. A haunting setting of 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller, the songs follow the lonely winter journey of a poet whose love has left him for another. This is a unique opportunity to hear one of the greatest song cycles ever written.

Mr. Scarlata has been described by The Boston Globe as having "the vocal wherewithal to do just about anything he wants." Gilbert Kalish's profound influence as pianist in myriad performances and recordings has established him as a major figure in American music making.
