Event Description Professor John Shea, professor of anthropology at Stony Brook University and a research associate with the Turkana Basin Institute in Kenya, will be demonstrating the ancient art of flintknapping also known as stone tool carving. Learn the secrets of Paleolithic hunters in their ongoing struggle for food and the methods they used to craft the tools needed for survival. Shea is a professional flintknapper whose work appears in numerous
documentaries and in exhibits at the Smithsonian Institution and the
American Museum of Natural History. |
