Event Description:

Speaker: Alberto Perez, Junior Fellow at the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology

Topic: Proteins? Yes, please! (….but folded)
What is the best machine ever invented? What if it was not invented? What if it was at the tip of our fingertips? Meet proteins: they do all the work inside of us, from carrying oxygen or digesting food to helping us stand up. Our body is constantly making new proteins to replace old ones. New proteins go through a process called protein folding and failure in this step can trigger illnesses like Alzheimer's.
