Event Description Benefit to raise funds for those affected by the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut this past December. The evening will consist of a series of guest speakers, including Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the Undergraduate Colleges Charles Robbins; representatives from the University Police Department who will discuss safety measures in place at Stony Brook to prevent and respond to similar situations on campus; and a student panel led by Ahmed Belazi and Christine Szaraz from the Center for Prevention and Outreach.
There will be a suggested $5 donation at the door, as well as baked goods for sale at the event, and all proceeds will go to the United Way’s Sandy Hook School Support Fund to provide assistance to those families affected by the tragedy. Please join in this very special evening to remember and pay tribute to those who were lost. |
