Event Description Join the Movement Workshop to experience what it means to move ahead through clear intention, thought and action. Using techniques from Laban Movement Analysis and Authentic Movement, the Center for Dance, Movement and Somatic Learning presents an improvisational workshop open to a diverse group of participants and ages (undergraduates, graduates, staff, faculty and community members). The workshop will explore what it takes to rise up against something difficult and how we can learn to recover forgotten parts of our lives through acts of serious and restorative play. We will explore the personal grounding necessary for mobility, the kinds of effort that enable us to stand up to uncertainty, and the choices of timing, space and energy needed to recover from collapse. Together, we will work to embody our community’s solidarity against violence and rape. We will act upon our commitment to create new growth in ourselves in order to renew our practice of human dignity and human rights for our local communities and communities throughout the world.
Free workshop. No previous skills necessary. |
