Event Description
Speaker: Nitin Vaidya, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Topic: Network-Aware Distributed Algorithms
The Computer Science department welcomes Nitin Vaidya of the University of Illinois as part of the Distinguished Lecturer Series. The talk will discuss how the network capacity may affect distributed algorithms, with distributed agreement as the illustrative example. We will introduce efficient agreement algorithms that take the network capacity into account. The talk will conclude by discussing research challenges in the area of network-aware distributed algorithms.
The Distinguished Lecturer Series (DLS) is a notably successful program that attracts accomplished scientists to Stony Brook for talks and brings together undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty and helps motivate undergraduates to get involved in research, and bolsters the stature of the Computer Science Department nationwide. DLS has developed into a premier forum for innovators in Computer Science from around the world to share their knowledge with a broad constituency. The talk will conclude with a reception in the lobby. |
