End Date: 2/5/2016End Time: 9:00 PM

Event Description:
The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution is the first feature length documentary to explore the Black Panther Party, its significance to the broader American culture, its cultural and political awakening for black people, and the painful lessons wrought when a movement derails. Master documentarian Stanley Nelson weaves rare archival footage of the people who were there in 1966: police, FBI informants, white supporters and detractors, and Black Panthers who remained loyal to the party and those who left it. A vibrant chronicle of the movement that birthed a new revolutionary culture in America. With Kathleen Cleaver, Jamal Joseph and many others. (115 minutes. Unrated.) Tickets online »

The screening is co-sponsored by the Africana Studies Department, Humanities Institute, Center for Study of Working Class Life and the Black History Month Committee.
