Science on Tap: What Animals Think and Feel with Carl Safina
Start Date: 11/24/2015Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 11/24/2015

Event Description:
Does my dog love me or does she just want a treat? Most people assume we have no way of knowing. But in his new book, Beyond Words, Carl Safina conveys the up-to-date science demonstrating similarities between ourselves and other animals in consciousness, self-awareness, empathy, teaching, the roots of aesthetics – including music – even a capacity for grief. In a conversation with host and former “60 Minutes” producer, Steven Reiner, Safina will argue that animals think and feel a lot like people do. They know who their friends are. They know who their enemies are. They have ambitions for status, and their lives follow the arc of a career. Relationships define them, as relationships define us. Come hear what Safina has learned about the surprising similarities between other animals’ lives and our own. RSVP »
