Science on Tap presents Stress: Can You Handle It?
Start Date: 11/3/2015Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 11/3/2015

Event Description:
Science on Tap is a live, award-winning show and web series produced by Stony Brook University's Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Lilianne Mujica-Parodi, Director of the Laboratory for Computational Neurodiagnostics and Associate Professor in Stony Brook University's Department of Biomedical Engineering

Lilianne Mujica-Parodi has an unusual way of measuring stress. She has volunteers jump out of an airplane. In her conversation with Science on Tap host Steven Reiner, Dr. Mujica-Parodi will explain how the emotional stress these novice skydivers experience allowed her to find out how the brain's internal chatter regulates our response to fearful situations–and allows her to distinguish between someone who is brave and another who is foolishly reckless.
