Africana Studies Spring Fling

Event Description:
Africana Studies will celebrate the music and culture of the African diaspora. Featured artist Loira Limbal, aka DJ Laylo, will be sharing popular music of Africa and the African Diaspora for the Stony Brook Community. Student performers such as Rhythm and Brook, an R&B acapella singing group sharing music of the African diaspora will also be featured.

This event is co-sponsored by the Weekend Life Council and will be broadcast live on WUSB 90.1.

Loira Limbal is Vice President + Producers' Lab Director for Firelight Media. She is also a Latina filmmaker and activist who directed and produced Estilo Hip Hop, a documentary that chronicles the lives of three hip hop activists from Brasil, Chile, and Cuba. It was an official selection of the Tribeca All Access Institute and aired nationally on PBS.

Free and open to the public.
