Panel to Discuss Blood Donor Equality

Event Description:
Started by four Stony Brook undergraduates, the Blood Donor Equality Movement is working to directly impact the current policies of the Department of Health and Human Services. This panel style event serves to bring together some of the most influential and well-versed voices in the nation regarding public policy and social justice to discuss FDA policy toward blood donation. The formal presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

The panel includes:

• Louis M. Katz, MD, Executive VP and Chief Medical Officer at America’s Blood Centers

• Debra Kessler, RN, MS, Director of Special Donor Services at New York Blood Center

• David Kilmnick, PhD, MSW, Chief Executive Officer at Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth

• Panel Moderator: Charles L. Robbins, DSW, LCSW, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the Undergraduate Colleges at Stony Brook University
