World of Physics: Thomas Allison
Start Date: 11/8/2013Start Time: 7:30 PM
End Date: 11/8/2013

Event Description:

“Frontiers of Coherent Light Sources and Time-Resolved Molecular Imaging”
How do molecules move when excited by light and how can we measure these dynamics? These fundamental questions influence a wide array of applications including solar energy, photo-catalysis, and biology. This lecture will discuss efforts at Stony Brook University to develop new light sources and techniques for recording ultrafast “movies” of the molecular world.

Thomas Allison holds a joint appointment in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry at SBU.
