Event Description:

Presented by Snap!Orlando, the exhibition Posing Beauty in African American Culture explores the contested ways in which African and African American beauty have been represented in historical and contemporary contexts through a diverse range of media including photography, film, video, fashion, and other forms of popular culture, challenging contemporary understandings of beauty by framing notions of aesthetics, race, class, and gender within art, popular culture, and politics.

Join curator Deborah Willis, Chair of Photography & Imaging, New York University, as she gives her insights on this exhibition, on view through February 5, 2017 in Snap!SPACE Contemporary Art Gallery located at 1013
