| Listening Pays! Achieve Significance through the Power of Listening by Rick Bommelje 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Rollins College - Knowles Memorial Chapel
Listening — it seems so simple. Yet, it's estimated that the average person ignores, forgets, or misunderstands at least 75% of what he or she hears. Is it any wonder that mistakes occur, opportunities are missed, or that the "I'll take care of it!" never happens? Most people are much better at hearing themselves talk than they are listening to what others say.
The value of listening goes far beyond common courtesy. It is fundamental to effective leadership and team success. Dr. Peter Drucker, the legendary Father of Modern Management, proclaimed that "the most important characteristic of a leader is the willingness, ability, and self-discipline to listen." Best-selling author Tom Peters identifies listening as the ultimate core competence.
This practical and engaging session will heighten your awareness of this critical leadership success skill.

The Bloomberg Assessment Test (BAT) is a global, standardized online exam that has been developed in partnership with premier financial institutions and university faculty around the world. The BAT covers a range of subjects including Finance, Economics, Math, Analytical Reasoning and other relevant business topics as well as Career Skills and aptitude.
Students who take the BAT uncover their strengths and weaknesses on various subjects and gain insight into which areas of finance may suit them best. The BAT also gives students the opportunity to gain exposure to financial employers worldwide. Bloomberg Institute maintains an anonymous database of BAT performance and showcases these results to over 20,000 global employers via the Bloomberg Institute Talent Search. No preparation is required, so you have nothing to lose. Score well, get noticed by employers. Score poorly, you'll forever be anonymous.
The best part - it is completely free! There is currently no fee to take the BAT. All students and recent graduates are welcome to participate. A three hour time frame is allotted for test takers, but students may leave once they are finished. |
