Project Mosaic: A Discussion of Migration
Start Date: 4/24/2012Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 4/24/2012End Time: 9:00 PM

Event Description
This semester the Africa and African-American Studies Program is continuing our collaborative cross campus Project Mosaic by examining migration. The goal of Project Mosaic is to promote a synergistic dialogue among faculty and enhance student understanding of the Africa and African-American experience. By working with an orienting central theme, we allow faculty and students in different disciplines to gain greater knowledge of our world. For this semester's project, the AAAS program is exploring how the migration of people and ideas linked to the African diaspora have had a profound effect on the development of global culture. Topics as varied as the impact of fair trade practice to the transformative infusion of African-Americans into the Central Florida region area being examined. Join us for a roundtable discussion between student and faculty exploring lessons learned and obstacles faced in our shared exploration.

Migration:
1. The act or an instance of migrating.
2. A group migrating together.
3. Chemistry & Physics
  • a. The movement of one atom or more from one position to another within a molecule.
  • b. The movement of ions between electrodes during electrolysis. Migration or Migratory behavior may refer to Biology, Ecology, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Computing, Physics, Chemistry, and other subject matter.
In recent years, migrating has provided the lens for comparative examination of policy, gender, education, immigration, citizenship, culture, and legal issues.
