The History of African Wax Prints

Event Description:

The History of African Wax Prints exhibit is a tribute to the vibrant and colorful African Wax Prints that display myriad patterns of leaves, flowers, hearts and geometric shapes.  This exhibition traces the history of the African Wax Print that has crossed over three continents; from Asia, through Europe to Africa.  The exhibits includes 69 examples of African Wax Prints with accompanying texts that detail their meanings and importance.  Nine mannequins, dressed in outfits made from African Wax Prints, are also included . 

The exhibit runs August 17th – October 16th, 2015, Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Inasmuch Foundation Gallery, VPA 168.
