End Date: 9/11/2014End Time: 7:30 PM

Event Description:
The Office of International Affairs hosts the IdEA tour which brings the U.S. Government diaspora engagement to local communities.

The 2014 tour provides the opportunity to:
• Showcase the IdEA partnership and promote its purpose;
• Demonstrate USG policy commitment to engage with diaspora communities;
• Engage previously unengaged demographics and diaspora communities;
• Encourage new interest in and activities for the October 2014 Global Diaspora Week.

What is diaspora?
Diaspora means “to scatter” in Greek, but today we use the term to describe a community of people who live outside their shared country of origin or ancestry but maintain active connections with it. A diaspora includes both emigrants and their descendants.
