Making Better Photographs Using the Tools of Visual Sociology

Event Description:
In conjunction with the Crafts Center's spring exhibition, A View to the Making: Portraits of North Carolina Craft Artists at Work, NC State students and the public alike are invited for a free evening talk by photographer and NC State professor of sociology Michael Schwalbe who will discuss how visual sociologists study social behavior and how the methods of visual sociology can be used to produce better photographs in everyday life. The talk will cover topics such as how to plan a documentary project, what to photograph, and how to conduct effective interviews. The one-hour session will include time for questions and answers.
