Martin Luther King Jr. Day Commemoration: Dick Gregory

End Date: 1/13/2014End Time: 8:00 PM

Event Description:
Dick Gregory was on the frontline in the sixties during the civil rights era; today he continues to be a "drum major for justice and equality."

An African-American comedian and civil rights activist whose social satire changed the way white Americans perceived African American comedians, Gregory entered the national comedy scene in 1961 when Chicago's Playboy Club booked him as a replacement for white comedian, 'Professor' Irwin Corey. Gregory's activism continues into the 21st century.

Gregory will present "The Legacy of Dr. MLK Jr. and Activism in the 21st Century," NC State's official commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 13, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the McKimmon Center.
