Event Description
Land-grant universities like NC State create and share knowledge that solves problems. We build jobs and strengthen the economy in North Carolina.
We do work that matters.
President Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act 150 years ago, on July 2, 1862, putting into action the idea that regardless of economic status, a college education should be available to anyone with the ability and motivation to earn a degree.
Celebrate this transformational event and learn how land-grant universities like NC State will continue to change the world.
Chancellor Randy Woodson will introduce Dr. Catherine Woteki, Under Secretary for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Research, Education, and Economics mission area, and the department’s chief scientist.
Provost Warwick Arden will also explore NC State University’s tradition of transformation and the university’s unique role as a premier research land-grant university focused on changing the state, nation and world.
This event is free and open to the public.
Chancellor Woodson, Provost Arden and Dr. Woteki will host a Q&A session following remarks.
A reception will follow the program, featuring a celebration cake and farm-to-fork food. |
