The event, which is free and open to the public (registration is encouraged), will also give attendees a sneak peek at the Transfer Co. Food Hall, a new market and gathering place in downtown Raleigh’s historic Olde East Neighborhood that doesn’t officially open until June 1 (the exhibit will be on display during the month of June on days when the food hall is open). Exhibit opening attendees can speak with the project collaborators and enjoy food and drink as they navigate the space.

The Leading Strand is an organization that brings scientists and designers together to translate scientific research in rigorous and visually compelling ways. It was founded by scientist-turned-designer Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, a visiting faculty member at NC State during the spring semester who worked with each of the teams to co-create the designs on display at the exhibit.
