Event Description Join NC State, A/V Geeks and the authors of "Learning with the Lights Off" for a retrospective screening celebrating the films of the Walter J. Klein Company. Come view the groundbreaking work of Charlotte’s first film and advertising firm, and celebrate the careers of North Carolina's own educational film dynasty - the Klein family.
This program features a selection of sponsored and educational films from the $25 million film archive donated to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. This collection spans almost half a century of innovative work in advertising, production, and distribution, and includes films like "Big Yellow Fellow," "Silver Safari" and "Standards of Perfection." Many of these films were shot in and around Charlotte and starred local children, actors, and personalities! Klein films were later shown in schools, community centers and on television.
Several members of the Klein family will be available for questions following the screenings. For more information, including a screening schedule, directions, and more on the Kleins,
