Food writer Mark Kurlansky will kick off NC State's Food + History Conference with a talk based on his new biography of Clarence Birdseye, inventor of frozen food. Kurlansky is the author of best-selling works "Cod," "Salt: A World History," and "The Big Oyster: History on the Half Shell." Free and open to the public. Hosted by the Dept. of History.
