Event Description The Park Scholar Class of 2011 is awarding the William C. Friday award to Ms. Ping Fu on Wednesday, February 23. The event honoring Ms. Fu, which will take place in Talley Student Center's Grand Ballroom. A reception will be held at 5:00 pm, and the award presentation and lecture will begin at 6:00 pm.
The William C. Friday Award is an annual honor presented by the senior class of Park Scholars on behalf of the Park Scholarships program. This award recognizes Friday’s dedication and contributions to the state of North Carolina. Geomagic is a leading provider of 3D software for developing digital models of physical objects. Geomagic clients include Ford, Harley-Davidson, Timberland, Fisher Price, Pratt & Whitney, NASA and Invisalign. Under Ping Fu’s leadership, Geomagic has been awarded over $5 million in grants from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and National Institute of Standards and Technology, in addition to receiving numerous awards. Recently, Ping Fu has become involved in helping the Obama administration launch the president’s campaign to increase investment in start-up companies. |
