“Best year of my life–worst year of my life”
Not all women wore love beads in the 60s. This powerful drama tells the story of six women who went to Vietnam, three nurses, an officer seeking to improve her standing, a Red Cross volunteer and a country western singer booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops. Follow their expectations, decisions, and shattered dreams as they tell the story of their experience in wartime, and the difficulty of life upon returning home. Directed by guest director Terri L. Janney.
Playwright Shirley Lauro will join us for opening night October 28 reception and post show discussion on Friday October 29.
“What
A Piece of My Heart
leaves with its audience is the notion that many have made sacrifices in fighting for our country, but not all of them are on the front lines with a rifle.”
Marty Schroeder, Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s Observer, 2006
