Raleigh Civic Symphony- Romantic Adventures
Start Date: 11/15/2009Start Time: 4:00 PM
End Date: 11/15/2009End Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description
Music@NCState in conjunction with the Raleigh Civic Symphony Association presents Romantic Adventures featuring the Raleigh Civic Symphony and special guest pianist (and the Music Department's own), Dr. Olga Kleiankina. Immerse yourself in the romantic period, a time of great change and emancipation,  artistic freedom, experimentation, and creativity with pieces by composers Brahms, Liszt, and de Falla.

The Raleigh Civic Symphony combines student and community musicians with professional leaders and innovative programming in what has been called "a class act" and "bright lights on the music scene in Raleigh." Audiences benefit from hearing both traditional and innovative repertoire in settings that include extensive program notes and in-concert comments, illuminating the repertoires in an informative context.   Amateur musicians have the opportunity to learn about fine music, working with professional musicians through rehearsals, coached sectionals, and performances.

Dr. Olga Kleiankina has received various awards and prizes for her performance, accompanying, chamber music, jazz, composition and arrangements including the Bradshaw & Buono Piano Competition and a First Prize in the Xith Pro Piano Competition in Romania. She has presented numerous solo and chamber music recitals in Moldova, Romania, Hungary, France, Greece and United States, and her playing praised as a “brilliant, clear, logical, sophisticated and pure.” Dr. K currently serves as head of Piano Program for the NCSU Music Department.
