Event Description
LATIN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL: WHICH WAY HOME (2009) - FREE
We see the personal side of immigration through children’s eyes, children who face great risks trying to reach the United States. Director Rebecca Cammisa follows several unaccompanied child migrants as they travel through Mexico en route to the U.S. on a freight train they call “The Beast.” Olga and Freddy, nine-year-old Hondurans, are desperately trying to reunite with their families in Minnesota, and José, a ten-year-old Salvadoran ends up abandoned and alone in a Mexican detention center. We see Kevin, a clever, streetwise 14-year-old Honduran, whose mother hopes he reaches New York City and sends money back to his family. These stories reflect hope and courage, disillusionment and sorrow and are the ones you never hear about. Part of the Latin American Film Festival. |
