Event Description
Hosted by Dr. Jonathan Kramer, the Price Music Center Lecture Series offers NC State the chance to experience the rich diversity of musical expressions from all over the world, presented in various forms.
Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam is one of the leading exponents of the finest of Indian fine arts - Carnatic music. She has been performing since the age of twelve and has an impressive list of achievements to her credit.
Dr. Subramaniam is serving a residency in the Triangle during the Fall, 2010 semester as a Fulbright Scholar, teaching courses in South Asian Music and Culture at Duke and at North Carolina State.
For this concert she will be accompanied by Carnatic violin and mridangam (double-headed barrel drum).
