Event Description
Speaker: Dr. Larry Nielsen
For nearly 20 years, Dr. Nielsen has taught a one-day short-course on communications skills to professionals in the U.S. Forest Service. He has concentrated that course into a 90-minute presentation addressing the needs of graduate students and postdocs, focusing on speaking skills. Specific topics covered include general principles, choosing the content and style, organizing for optimal impact, practicing before a presentation, performing at your best, and preparing effective visual aids. Come learn the tools of the trade from an accomplished public speaker-who tells it like it is!
