Low ticket sales have left them on the brink of bankruptcy and the National Endowment for the Arts sends notice of an impending visit by an inspector to determine whether to pull its funding grant due to “significant artistic deficit.” Mistaking a novice and very bad actor as the inspector, the company scrambles to satisfy the “inspector,” even casting him in the play and letting him rewrite sections of the story. Things really go wrong when the real inspector shows up and the company is forced to stage what is undoubtedly the worst production ever of A Christmas Carol. A laugh riot with physical slapstick, dizzying laughs, ingenious jokes and hysterical characters kicks off the holiday season in this hilarious comedy spoof. Directed by John C. McIlwee ‘’Inspecting Carol’’ is a breezy antidote to stock Christmas offerings. The breeze is heaven-sent.” The New York Times Christmas Cookie reception, Community Night, Wednesday, December 1, Tickets only $10 |
