Cyber Security Awareness Month: Computer Security for Real People

Event Description
In recognition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) is planning a series of presentations in October to “increase the awareness and prevention of online security problems.” Organized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance, National Cyber Security Awareness Month is an annual effort.

Tim Gurganus of OIT Security and Compliance will present “Computer Security for Real People” from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 in Room 4106 of Talley Student Center. Come learn about some free security tools you can use to make your PC tougher to steal. Topics will include laptop tracking software, privacy and social networks, and modern malware.
